Just down the way from Stillwater, the much quieter hamlet of Bayport is seeing a resurgence as locals and metro types alike find new dining options right off its main street.
Among the newest is The Wilder Scratch Kitchen opening soon by Chef-owner Jeffrey Lundmark and his wife Kathy. Formerly head chef at Domancin Wine Bar and Restaurant in Stillwater for eight years, Lundmark’s vision for the new restaurant rests in the concept of scratch cooking. “Think of modern comfort food that uses real ingredients with just the right amount of creative technique,” said Lundmark when describing his menu.
The Wilder is opening in a building formerly occupied by a Mexican restaurant. The remodel included gutting and reconfiguring the space. The result is a historic setting with just enough industrial touches. Exposed brick plays nicely with a new oak and carrera marble topped bar, and crafted industrial hardware that appears throughout the restaurant. The original storefront windows bring in just enough light to brighten the space without disturbing the intimate interior or the quaint exterior.
The Wilder is planning a soft opening soon and a full opening mid-June.
